Lemmy is a link-aggregator and the Template:Internal Link's replacement for Reddit.

What does Lemmy feel like?

Lemmy is similar to sites like Reddit, Lobste.rs or Hacker News: You subscribe to communities that you're interested in, post links and discussions and vote and comment on them.
Communities are similar to forum categories, so Lemmy can be used as a forum.
Since it's part of the Template:Internal Link different Lemmy instances can communicate mainly with other Lemmy's intance.

Lemmy doesn't support hashtags as Mastodon yet. Discoverability between fediverse app is limited. There is also some limitations, not tied to Lemmy, for example the markdown and picture aren't well supported by each other fediverse app.

Template:Internal Link users can also take part in Lemmy discussions and subscribe to lemmy communities.

Lemmy and the fediverse

Mastodon

Mastodon users can post in a Lemmy community. Go to mastodon, create a post and follow that form :

The first paragraph will be the title in Lemmy

The second paragraph will be the body of your post. You can add some hashtag but it will only work on mastodon as Lemmy doesn't support them.

Once done, mention the Lemmy community where you want to post. @LemmyCommunity@LemmyInstance.tdl
