* Fediverse projects are not very well known, so relatively few people are using it, wich can be annoying for a social platform, and the content you publish will likely touch nearly nobody.

* Many Fediverse projects, like pixelfed, are in an immature state and may lack functionalities.
* The Fediverse has a much smaller user base than other platforms, so if you're primarily looking for a wide audience then it might not be for you.
* Most of Fediverse projects are benevolent and are financed by a not highly profitable economic model, it may affect negatively the instances management and the projects developement speed, which can die at any moment in the absence of sufficient funds or if developers lack of motivation.
* Not all Fediverse projects are at the same stage of development and some important functions one projects has, the other might still be missing.
* Many instances are lawless zones and are created for a malicious goal, like hosting hateful fake news or planify massive cyberbully operations. You have to stay vigilant about wich platform you subscribe if you are user and with wich platforme you federate if you are an admin.
* Fediverse projects and instances are run by volunteers with not a lot of money behind them. Worst case: A project might no longer be maintained or an instance might close.
* There are some instances that allow hate-speech, fake news or worse. Make sure you don't end up on one of them.
