"Imagine Twitter, Facebook, Instagram & Co were all part of one giant network." - They kind of are.

"That's basically what the Fediverse is". I'm not sure this is a good way to present the Fediverse, in general talking about fediverse software as a "replacement" for corpo social media encourages similar behaviours on fediverse. This is all very well, if that is what one wants to do with their life, of course, one is free to set up an instance and replicate "social media" behaviour there to their hearts content. But you cannot state that this is then what the fediverse IS.

What do you mean with "They kind of are"?

We're not saying that that is what the Fediverse IS. The sentence also contains the words "kinda" and "except". If you feel like there is something missing in the "except"-clause we can add that. Maybe: except the parts are less well known, less toxic, free software & federated replacements to those.

I chose the word "replacement" instead of "alternative" because alternative sounds like both are equally okay to use. Replacement implies, that the Fediverse version is better.

Oh and wouldn't you like to log in and discuss this in the discussion page of the corresponding page? It was a coincident that I found this page of yours.
