Welcome to Climate Portal of the Join Fediverse Wiki

The most pressing issue for humanity in the 21st century is the climate crisis!
As a source of wisdom this wiki would be complicit if it didn't address this issue.
The joinfediverse.wiki is hosted on a server in Vienna that runs on 100% hydro energy and is therefore CO2-neutral.

There are already a lot of topics concerning the climate on this wiki and with this portal we are trying to expand on that.

The issue
The climate of this planet is in crisis and this crisis is human-made.
For a lot more info than we gather below, check out the Wikipedia article on the climate crisis.
Human actions, driven by capitalism, lead to greenhouse gas emissions which, through the greenhouse effect, are the cause for the climate crisis we are facing today.

From Wikipedia: According to a non-peer reviewed study published in 2018 by The Shift Project (a French think tank funded by corporate sponsors), nearly 4% of global CO2 emissions could be attributed to global data transfer and the necessary infrastructure [of the internet].
That's why we need to address the climate issue everywhere online.
