Fediverse projects are the different software parts of the Fediverse. Many of them are replacements for better-known social media platforms.
What is Mastodon?

Mastodon is a microblogging platform like Twitter.
Microblogging means you have a blog with short (micro) posts which can include pictures and video. Usually there's a 500 character limit for posts on Mastodon.
What is Pixelfed?

Pixelfed is a photoblogging platform like Instagram.
Your posts must include at least one image, but of course you can add captions, tags, and location data.
What is PeerTube?

PeerTube is a video sharing platform like Youtube or Vimeo.
You can upload videos for others to watch on the website. People can subscribe from all over the Fediverse.
What is Friendica?

Friendica is a social network like Facebook.
Post text, pictures & videos only for the eyes of your family or friends or share them with the Fediverse.
What is Lemmy?

Lemmy is a link aggregator like Reddit.
You can post links, images and text posts that people can vote and comment on.
What is WriteFreely?

WriteFreely is a (macro-)blogging platform like Wordpress or Blogger.
You can create beautiful blogs, diaries and books.
