Project Maintenance |
This project is about keeping everything in this wiki in order. This includes easy tasks for new editors to get to know the structure of the wiki. |
The main page of this projects is Project:Maintenance. |
|
Welcome to the Project Maintenance.
This is the page where we collect todos on keeping everything about this wiki in order.
Reports
There are a lot of maintenance reports in the first section of the page Special:SpecialPages. Most tasks for this projects will be related to those reports.
Highly interesting reports
These are the reports that should be checked regularly and ideally be empty.
- Special:BrokenRedirects
- Special:DoubleRedirects
- Special:UncategorizedCategories should only contain Super-categories
- Special:UncategorizedPages should only contain Main Page
- Special:UncategorizedTemplates
Interesting reports
These are reports that have the second highest priority. The goal is to get some of them empty over time as well.
- Special:FewestRevisions ignore translations - other pages might need some looking-over -> Project:Quality control's job
- Special:UncategorizedFiles should get categorized
- Special:WantedCategories should maybe be created - never directly create wanted translated categories, but translate the original category
Slightly interesting reports
These are reports that should not be of high concern.
- Special:DeadEndPages contain lots of Drafts
- Special:LongPages are not really an issue
- Special:OrphanedPages contain lots of Drafts
- Special:ProtectedPages only Paula can edit those
- Special:ProtectedTitles empty
- Special:ShortPages ignore Main Page and translations - others might need more content -> Project:Quality control's job
- Special:UnusedCategories ignore translations - other categories should either be used or deleted (might be typos)
- Special:UnusedFiles contain files used deeper in the wiki - others might be unnecessary
- Special:UnusedTemplates ignore translations - other than that contains mostly templates that are just currently unused
- Special:UnwatchedPages contain mostly translations - only relevant if you use watchlist and not Special:RecentChanges
- Special:WantedFiles only some of these are really wanted
- Special:WantedPages contain mostly missing translations
- Special:WantedTemplates contain mostly missing translations
Broken reports
These are reports that don't work on this wiki.
- Special:AncientPages don't really show the oldest pages - also not really relevant
- Special:WithoutInterwiki doesn't work with the translation extention that we use
Other tasks
- currently User:Paula changes all categories from singular to plural for consistency. Only Paula can do this. It consists of 3 steps:
- using the Special:ReplaceText page to make sure all articles link to the new category
- moving the old category to the new name
- using Special:PageTranslation to mark all pages for translations so the categories are renamed on translated pages too
- define which categories, pages, etc should be translated (exclude e.g. Category:Articles with issues) and prepare them for translation by adding these: <languages/><translate></translate>
- check Special:NewFiles and add license information and source
- make sub-categories of large categories where it makes sense
- make sure all pages are categorized correctly, e.g.:
- lots of Category:Template pages should be moved to sub-categories
- decide which pages should be included in the Template:Navbar
