Basics about editing
  • The style guide is a collection of best practices while editing. Its a good place to start for completely new editors and also for experienced MediaWiki editors to see what we do differently here.
  • The template guide explains all the (most tbh.) templates we use here. This is probably more for experienced editors.
  • MediaWiki's collection of help pages have in-dept info about everything you need to know about editing a MediaWiki wiki.
  • You can always ask User:Paula

Basic rules for editing
  • don't spam, troll, harass or bully
  • don't promote bigotry, hate-speech, right-wing indeologies or "free speech instances"
  • don't willfully spread false information
    • this wiki doesn't meet the same standards as Wikipedia e.g. for scientific writing or notability, but everything should be correct
  • please don't remove text or heavily rewrite it before talking about it in the corresponding talk page
  • if you're afraid of making a mistake and e.g. "breaking" a page
    • Ask User:Paula for help
    • Try it on the Project:Playground before editing the real page
    • If you're creating a new article just write "Draft:" in front of the title, add {{Draft}} on top of the article, don't add any categories yet and don't link to the article from other pages, until it is reviewed.
    • Just try. Mistakes can be undone. If you can't fix it yourself, ask User:Paula
  • the following guidelines will help you edit efficiently and so not a lot has to be fixed later:

Translations
Everything about translating can be found in the translation guide. This is also good to know if you're just editing translatable pages without translating them.

Todos

You can find many tasks you can help with in Portal:Todos and the project pages linked from there. But feel free to work on something else or add your projects to these todo lists.
