Revision as of 17:36, 19 November 2024
I'm trying to restructure the wiki a bit and then create more content to answer the most basic questions people have about the Fediverse.
Finished changes
- Namespaces: We now have 2 new namespaces. Draft and Archive. You can find e.g. Draft:Captions and Archive:Mastodon features explained in the new namespaces.
- Article titles: I renamed all articles that were titled "What is...?" or "What are...?" to the more simple title, e.g. Mastodon instead of What is Mastodon? (which redirects to the former though).
- Categories: I removed some categories like the "What is" category and added a few new ones, like Category:Usage.
- Redirects: You can now search for the name of some other social media services and get redirected to a Fediverse equivalent. Instagram, Reddit, Youtube, Goodreads, Twitter (also X (Twitter))
Ongoing changes
- Fediverse: I'm drafting a new Fediverse article where you can find answers to basic questions in a more structured way. Draft:New Fediverse Article
- Colors: In the future, colors (like used in the Portals) will represent the main questions the wiki is trying to answer. For reference here are the hex codes of the colors used so far: orange ff6100/ffe5d4, blue 3d9bff/9acbff/c9e3ff, red ff4e51/ff8c8e/ffd2d3, green 40bc65/84de9f/a7e0b8, purple bb42ff/db9bff/ebc7ff yellow dbe529/e4ec5b/f5f9ab, grey 737373/9e9e9e/cbcbcb
- The Main page should already have a section explaining what the Fediverse is.
- Sidebar: I'll edit the sidebar to contain these items Main page, The Fediverse (What is it?, How do I join?, How do I use it?), This wiki (About, Navigation, Categories, Editing/Translating), For Editors, Guides & Guidelines, Todos, Special pages, Help about MediaWiki, Recent changes
- Templates: Template:Getting started links will be edited.
- What people usually tell you about the Fediverse, Getting started with your Fediverse account, Welcome to the Fediverse Quickstart guide might be renamed or split/merged with different articles.
- Unrelated to the other changes, but a note for myself: I'm adding image captions to the pages of each image and making sure they are seen in each article using the image.
Finishing touches
- I'm going to edit the editing guides to document the new changes.
- I'm going to check all reports to fix errors.
- I'm going to try to find translators to update/fix the translations.
