About
BluePlanet.social is an instance for all who see themselves primarily as citizens of our blue planet and are interested in a respectful relationship between all people.
BluePlanet.social is meant to be a safe and comfortable place for everyone, this explicitly includes people from marginalized groups. It is a mainly German-speaking Mastodon instance, but English speaking users are welcome to join.

Technical
This server is located in Nordfriesland (northern Germany) and is powered 100% by physically green electricity (mostly from wind energy). The waste heat from the data center is used to run an algae farm, among other things. All data is backed up daily in encrypted form at an independent data center (powered by hydroelectricity) in southern Germany, where it is stored for 7 days. The operating system used is Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish). The operating status of the services is permanently monitored from an independent data center using the open source software Uptime Kuma, and the current status can be called up at any time via https://status.blueplanet.social/. This data center is also operated with 100% renewable energy.
